Seed garlic and SOC certification
What is SOC certification?
The SOC (Service officiel de contrôle et de certification) oversees the production and marketing of certified seeds and planting material in France. For garlic, certification guarantees the identity of the variety and the traceability of each lot. Learn more about SOC certification.
How can I recognise certified seed garlic?
Each bag carries the official SOC certification label, with the variety and lot number, as well as the EU organic logo for organic seed garlic.
Is your seed garlic virus-free?
Yes. Our varieties are regenerated and free from OYDV virus.
Do you offer organic seed garlic?
Yes. Our range is available as certified organic and untreated seed garlic. The 5 kg bag is reserved for organic seed garlic; the 20 kg bag is available for the whole range.
Can I repack the seed garlic?
Only if you are approved for SOC inspection, with new official labelling. A bag that is opened and split without this inspection loses its certification.
Packaging and growing
What packaging do you offer?
The 5 kg bag for certified organic seed garlic, the 20 kg bag for the whole range, the half-pallet from 90 kg and the full pallet up to 1,100 kg. Beyond that, we prepare orders of several pallets, up to a full truckload.
What size grades do you offer?
Depending on the variety, we offer 40/50, 45/55, 50/60 and 60+ size grades, as certified organic or untreated seed garlic. See the size grades available for each variety.
How much seed garlic do I need?
Enter your area in our seed calculator to estimate the quantity needed. It is available on our page for growers.
How do I plant garlic?
Split the heads into cloves as close to planting as possible, then plant each clove tip up, about 5 cm deep, adjusting to your soil and equipment. All our advice is in our growing guide.
What soil is best for growing garlic?
Loose, well-drained soil. Avoid fields where water stands for long periods, especially in winter. On soils that drain poorly, planting on ridges can be considered.
Delivery: your questions
Where do you deliver?
We deliver seed garlic anywhere in Europe, in bags, half-pallets or full pallets. For any other destination, contact us before requesting your quote.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs depend on the quantity, the packaging and the delivery country. They are calculated and shown in your quote: you know the total cost before committing.
What are the delivery times?
There is no fixed lead time: deliveries follow the planting period. In general, an order placed in one week is shipped the following Monday and delivered within the week (for example, order in week 44, shipment on the Monday of week 45). State your preferred date in your quote request.
How can I track my delivery?
You will receive an email from the carrier with a tracking number to follow your delivery. We work with well-known carriers: Kuehne+Nagel, DPD and Chronopost in France, Kuehne+Nagel and DPD for the rest of Europe.
What should I check on delivery?
Check the number of bags or pallets and the condition of the packaging in the presence of the carrier. If a parcel is damaged or missing, write precise reservations on the delivery note, then report it to us within 48 hours with photos, at contact@pro-allium.com.
